Vashon Island Golf and Country Club
The best (and only) golf on the island
The VIGCC golf course is a challenging nine-hole course, defined by the massive side-slope running from north to south and the two gullies bisecting the course.
The first three holes are par fours, with narrow, tree-lined fairways, ditches protecting the approach, and sloping greens with false fronts.
The next three holes are the most dynamic, starting with a short par-5 that doglegs right, and can be shortened by playing into the adjacent fairway. Next is a long par 3, with massive loss of elevation. Hole 6 is a par 4 with a sharp dog leg right and a precipitous ditch running through the knee.
The final three holes provide massive opportunity to gain (or lose) strokes. Hole 7 is a drivable par 4, but OB just behind the green and a massively sloping fairway and false front green that can lead to a 3 (or 4) putt. Hole 8 is a short par 3 perched at the top of a cliff to the right, with trees blocking out the left. Hole 9 is a return to the course design of holes 1 to 3 - a narrow par 4 with a gulley running through the approach.
